Pathway to International Ministry

The Evangelical Free Church of Hershey Missions Council encourages those who feel the Lord directing them into overseas missions to follow these steps in preparing for this career:

• Talk to  Dan Witwer, pastor of Engage³, to learn about the strategic plan for Hershey Free Church’s outreach and opportunities for you to serve.
• Actively participate in local church ministry and training opportunities.
• Acknowledge an interest and a passion for international ministry from the Holy Spirit.
• Seek confirmation from your small group leader, a trusted Christian who knows you or a pastor.
• Take growing leadership roles in ministry.
• Continue to meet with an Engage³ staff person to discuss the “next steps.”
• Commit to the next local level of cross-cultural ministry if the Holy Spirit gives further confirmation.
• Attend a missions resource event (e.g., Urbana, Finisher’s Forum, Perspectives Course)
• Continue to interact with our Engage³ staff for counsel and prayer.
• Apply to an endorsed sending agency.
• Stay engaged in “people ministry.”
• Participate in a cross-cultural training course. The Engage³ staff can recommend one.
• Build a support network among family and friends.
• Be commissioned by our church.
