Pastor for Care Ministries

The overarching purpose of the pastor for care ministries is to develop and promote specialized ministry venues to meet the caring needs of the adult community of the Hershey Free Church. The pastor will recruit, develop and oversee teams of lay leaders who will help visit, counsel and shepherd those in need. This will be done in collaboration with all the ministry leaders of the church.

The pastor for care ministries will be responsible for building a relational discipleship ministry that cares for those in need, and will be passionate about a person’s emotional and physical care.

Essential roles

  • Counseling (evaluation and referrals)
  • Visitation
  • Understand a relational discipleship culture and integrate support groups to that culture
  • Working with support groups
  • Oversee support-group leaders, the visitation team and senior-adult leadership
  • Create, revise and evaluate ministry teams for helping people find a place to get specific help in their time of need
  • Develop and support a visitation team
  • Interface with small groups in specialized ministry areas (e.g., counseling, para-church support)
  • Expand new on-ramps for support groups and specialized ministry areas
  • Understand communication values and utilize varied communication tools
  • Partner and meet with Adult Community Team

The pastor will also participate in other pastoral duties, including officiating at weddings and funerals, counseling, visiting, participating in worship services as needed and maintaining contact with members of the congregation and community by e-mail, letters, articles and in-person availability.
