Director of Communications
The overarching purpose of the director of communications is to help develop a culture of relational discipleship through clearly communicating the vision of the Hershey Free Church. The director will be the creative consultant and implementer of the available communications methods at the director’s disposal. This will be done in collaboration with the executive pastor, senior administrator and lead team members to implement a clear communication philosophy and effort.
The director will be responsible for creating a culture of clear communication that will make the vision and purpose of the Hershey Free Church unmistakably obvious, and will be passionate about a culture of relational discipleship that is clearly and accurately informed.
Essential roles
- Write and design the worship bulletin and other regularly used communication tools
- Maintain the website
- Pursue targeted communication methods including texting, Facebook, e-mail, Twitter and other methods as they become available
- Ask the right questions about communication needs and potential gaps
- Ensure we are communicating in a timely fashion
- Write and/or edit the text that is posted on the web, written in a newsletter or otherwise meant for large audiences
- Coordinate promotion of events with administrative assistants and ministry leaders
- Learn and implement new ways to communicate
- Keep staff up-to-date on new ideas in the field of communications
- Oversee a lay staff of writers, graphic designers, videographers and photographers
- Participate with the Lead Team in helping set vision for the church
- Partner and meet with ministry leadership to help develop effective communication strategies
