Director for Elementary Ministries
The overarching purpose of the director for elementary ministries is to develop and promote a culture of learning and security among the families and children of the Hershey Free Church. The director will recruit, equip and oversee a team of lay leaders and helpers who will care for and teach the elementary-age children. This will be done in collaboration with the director for KidzWorld and family ministries, executive pastor and “backbone team.”
The director will be the champion for building a safe teaching environment that provides an opportunity for elementary children to learn and adults to serve these children and their families, and will be passionate about providing a safe learning environment for elementary children that will put their parents at ease and show the children the love of Christ.
Essential roles
- Recruit and develop teachers and helpers
- Make connections with people who serve
- Develop innovative approaches to ministry in partnership with the other church ministries
- Oversee the elementary classes during worship services and Wednesday evenings
- Maintain the elementary budget and supplies
- Understand Hershey Free Church communication values and utilize varied communication tools
- Be a participating member of the KidzWorld and Family Ministries team
- Partner and meet with the “backbone team” as needed
- Minister to families in need and refer them to compassion ministries or pastors as necessary
