Pastor for Engage3
The overarching purpose of the pastor for Engage3 is to develop and promote a culture of local and worldwide mission engagement among the congregation of the Hershey Free Church. The pastor for Engage3 will cast the vision and help train lay and paid staff for outreach. This will be done in collaboration with the Backbone Team. He will care for our missionary family and make sure those missionaries are in sync with our values and vision.
The pastor for Engage3 will be responsible for building a missional culture that helps produce a community of disciples who are passionate about biblical mission as participants and supporters that deepen and advance the kingdom of God. He will be passionate about involving people in the mission of God.
Essential roles
- Mobilize people to serve in the mission of God
- Work with the Backbone Team to incorporate serving and supporting local and global mission into the fabric and culture of our church.
- Align missional ministries with the strategy and vision statement of the church
- Discover, develop and train leaders for local and global outreach
- Oversee the Mission Council along with a lay elder
- Interface with small groups in specialized ministry areas such as families, students, young adults and senior adults
- Cast the vision for local and global mission
- Create opportunities for short-term mission work both locally and globally
- Provide pastoral care and counseling for mission family
- Involve our congregation in caring for our global mission family
- Create and manage the budget for missions
- Partner with ministry leaders to help build the visibility of a missional worldview
- Understand the Hershey Free Church communications values and utilize varied communication tools
The pastor will also participate in other pastoral duties, including officiating at weddings and funerals, counseling, visiting, participating in worship services as needed and maintaining contact with members of the congregation and community by e-mail, letters, articles and in-person availability.
