Director for Children and Family Ministries
The overarching purpose of the director for children and family ministries is to help develop and support a culture of relational discipleship among the whole church community. The directir will identify, recruit and equip a team of leaders who will disciple children and parents. This will be done in collaboration with the senior pastor, executive pastor and other pastors to implement relational discipleship among the children and families of the Hershey Free Church.
The director will be responsible for building a culture of discipleship for our children and families that helps produce a community of disciples who are passionate about investing their time and gifts in children of all the ages in the church and surrounding community.
Essential roles
- Discover, develop and invest in leaders
- Develop a training program for new leaders and to sharpen existing leaders
- Have a process that incorporates and trains people to see their part in discipling children
- Oversee Sunday morning children’s programs for effectiveness
- Disciple the people involved in the ministry
- Evaluate all areas of Children and Family Ministries
- Create an environment that promotes and expects change
- Develop innovative approaches to ministry
- Understand communication values and utilize varied communication tools
The director will also participate in other duties including counseling, visiting, participating in worship services as needed and maintaining contact with members of the congregation and community by e-mail, letters, articles and in-person availability.
