Candidates to be Affirmed by Congregation

The candidates for elder, deacon and leadership committee who are profiled here will be presented at the September 17 congregational meeting for affirmation by the church members. Affirmation by 75 percent of the ballots cast are required for a candidate to take office.

In order to be listed on the ballot, a number of candidates were screened and recommended to the elders by the leadership committee. The elders considered the qualifications of each candidate and voted to present the following ones for affirmation by the members.

Candidate for Elder

Stephen Hoke lives in Palmyra and has been a member of the Hershey Free Church for 13 years. He accepted Christ as his savior 25 years ago. In the past he has been involved with Children’s Ministries and Nexus (young adult ministry). He was on the pastoral transition team. He currently is a teacher in Adult Education Fellowships and the Equip2Serve workshops. Steve feels his spiritual gifts are teaching, knowledge, wisdom and leadership.

  Candidate for Deacon

Ken Huebsch lives in Hershey and has been a member of the Hershey Free Church for 10 years. He accepted Christ as his savior 26 years ago. His participation in ministry includes working in the food bank and playing sports with young adults. Ken feels his spiritual gifts are discernment and encouragement.

  Candidate for Deacon

Tom Alexander lives in Harrisburg and has been a member of the Hershey Free Church for eight years. He accepted Christ as his savior 12 years ago. His participation in ministry includes co-leader of the LL4C Adult Education Fellowship and facilitating a community group. Tom feels his spiritual gifts are mercy, giving and service.

 

Susan Seavers (left) and Deb Hinkel (right) have been nominated as members-at-large on the leadership committee. The leadership committee identifies, screens and recommends candidates for elder, deacon and deaconess to the Elder Board and pastors.
