Hope for the Hopeless through Radio

Harry & Eileen Bettig

Harry & Eileen Bettig are pictured above.

Harry and Eileen Bettig are missionaries supported by the Hershey Free Church. Harry has been with Trans World Radio since 1981 and spent his first 14 years on Guam. He currently serves as director of the Europe Media Department in the Netherlands, through which all European, Middle Eastern, North African and Central Asian broadcast administration activities are coordinated. Eileen is the local office manager,  layout editor for the regional magazine,  and a support-raising coach.

Trans World Radio broadcasts the gospel into areas where there is little hope for a missionary to go. Some of these programs were underwritten in part by a grant of $31,200 from the Global Ministry Project Fund of the Hershey Free Church to cover translation and production costs for one year. Radio reaches people in their own homes where they can absorb the oral biblical teaching in private.

Recently the TWR Ministry Moments highlighted a response from a listener in Central Asia.  Be encouraged by this letter:

“Thank you for your letters. I have time to listen to the radio at my work. My shift is very long. Once in the evening I turned the radio dial and came across your program, “The Way to Peace.” I came home and told my wife, ‘I have found the programs from Kazakhstan.’ This was exactly 10 years ago. I remember it very well.

My wife showed interest at first, but then did not want to listen anymore because there were too many words she didn’t understand. I continued to listen and later I found out that she was also listening. From that point on we began listening together up until she died. She died a child of God. My wife and I have told many people through the years where they can listen to the programs. We have even showed them how to tune their radios to the station.”
